Request for a Ballot by Mail

 

The General Election of Council Members/Mayor whose terms are expiring is scheduled for the second Saturday in May of each year. All elections are held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas Election Code and in accordance with the City Charter of the City of Ingleside and Ordinance or Resolution adopted by the Council for the conduct of elections. The City Secretary's office, as the City's designated Administrator of Elections, coordinates all City Elections in accordance with the City Charter and Texas Election Code. A calendar of election events for the annual general election elections will be posted on our site as it is available each year; with Candidate Packets available just prior to the beginning of the filing period. Qualifications for Mayor & Council candidates, Voter Registration Forms, and polling location can be viewed at any time online. All special election calendar of events will be posted on our site when applicable. *

  • Qualifications for Mayor & Council Candidates:
  • At least 21 years of age
  • A citizen & qualified voter of the State of Texas & the City of Ingleside
  • Shall have resided within the City for at least 12 months
  • Neither the Mayor nor any member of the Council shall hold any other office or employment under City Government while a member of the Council nor hold any other paid employment under City Government within two (2) years thereafter unless such employment be an elective office
  • The Mayor and Members of the City Council shall be elected at-large. Such term for Council Members shall be on a two year staggered basis and the Mayor shall also serve for a term of two years. The Mayor and each Councilmember shall receive compensation at a rate of twenty-five ($25.00) dollars per meeting with a maximum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per month

2013 CITY OFFICER'S ELECTION
Jan. 30 First day for filing application for place on ballot
Feb. 12 Order Election & Establish Procedures - Resolution
Feb. 12 Post Notice of Election
March 1 5:00 p.m. Deadline to file application for a place on the ballot.
March 12 First day to apply for early ballots to be voted by mail.
March 6 10:00 a.m. - City Secretary's Office - Conduct drawing for order of names on ballot. Post order of names drawn.
March 1 5:00 p.m. Deadline for write-in candidates to file declarations of write-in candidacy
March 27 First day to mail early ballots to be voted by mail.
April 11 Due date for filing first report of campaign contributions and expenditures. Last day a person may register to vote in the May 11, 2013, election.
April 26 Last day to receive application in person for a ballot to be voted by mail.
April 29 Early voting by personal appearance begins.
May 7 Last day to vote early by personal appearance
May 8-10 Period to apply for late (emergency) early voting because of death in family May 6 or later and will require absence from the county on election day.
May 8-10 Period to apply for late (emergency) early voting because of illness or disability originating on or after May 2.
May 11 ELECTION DAY - Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting clerk and voter registrars office shall remain open. Unofficial tabulation
May 14-22 Period for official canvass of returns by City Council and swearing in of newly elected officials.
July 14 Last day for timely filing of semiannual report of contributions and expenditures.
