People tell me I need a “Business Plan” for financing consideration. Who can help me with this?

The City’s ED Department can provide resources and contacts of agencies that provide assistance in drafting a business plan – at no charge to the general public.

Are there federal or state funds available to help me get started?

Yes, both the State of Texas and the U.S. Government encourage start-up businesses and enterprises. The City’s ED Department can catalog these programs for you, and lead you to the correct resources for your particular endeavor. We have contacts with the Small Business Administration, SCORE, and ACCION, as well as the Del Mar Small Business Administration, and direct relationships with the Governor’s office in Austin. We also work with local and area bankers who are ready to lend money to help businesses get started. There are credit requirements that must be met, but a variety of programs exist, and we can direct you to the correct agencies for your particular situation.

What if I know what I want to do, and I’ve already picked out a location? What do I need to obtain from the City?

The City requires that a fire inspection of your location be made by our Fire Marshall. Once this is completed, our Building Inspector will come out to your location and inspect your building to ensure it’s up to Code, and safe for the general public. In many cases, this can all be completed the same day. It’s our goal to get you up and running in the shortest possible time.

Once I’m in business, who helps me promote to the local community?

The City will advertise your new business via our ED Newsletter which goes out periodically to all the area businesses and others on our mailing list. We will send an E-Blast on your behalf for your first day of operations. We also make sure your information is forwarded to our local Chamber of Commerce who will schedule a grand opening and ribbon-cutting which will be attended by local dignitaries and staff from the City, and Chamber members. We work with our local newspapers and other media outlets to make sure word is out that you are “Open For Business in Ingleside, Tx.!”

What if I want to expand my existing business or need help in finding qualified workers?

The City’s ED Department works very closely with the Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, and we can get you in touch with professionals who can help you find the specific skill sets you are seeking. If you are introducing a new enterprise, custom training programs can be designed on your behalf. Workforce will even offer paid training to your employees in some instances. Call us today to hear more.

Can anyone offer me marketing advice for getting my business off to a good start?

Yes. Our ED Director has a background in marketing and worked with businesses foreight years before coming to us. She can help you take advantage of ways to get the word out about your business, and teach you how to conduct ongoing promotions to keep you out in front of your business audience. We work closely with our Chamber and they can help you promote with grand openings, mixers and other opportunities. The City wants your business to be successful, and we are always happy to help.

I’m looking for a property on which to build my business. Where can I find a list of available properties?
