Programs and Services
Five and Under Club: Held from September to May program meets each Wednesday 10am-11 am. Stories, crafts, games and music for the Pre-Schooler. No pre-registration is required and parents are encouraged to attend. See Schedule for Five and Under.
StoryHour with Mr. Kippy: Mr. Kippy weaves his magic with stories, songs, music, films, and theatrics for children of all ages on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm and Fridays from 8:30-9:30 am. No registration is required and parents are welcomed to attend.
After-School Program: This program runs from September to mid May and is offered every Monday from 3:30 pm-5 pm, this program offers an opportunity for students in 3rd grade-junior high school to gather in the library to enjoy games, music, refreshments or simply relax and enjoy visiting with each other in a relaxed environment.
Teens Rule Wii Program: Offered every Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for students in junior high through High School. Come join your friends as they battle for the championship of such games as Guitar Hero and Super Mario Brothers and others. Mr. Roger will be on hand to guide you and show you how the Pros do it!
Summer Reading Club: Scheduled each year in June for children in Kindergarten through 7th Grade. Regular weekly club meetings include activities to keep the children reading all summer. Prizes and incentives are provided for all children participating in this program.
NOVEMBER: National Children’s Book Week. Programming to highlight and encourage children to read.
SEPTEMBER: Library Card Sign-In Month. A month devoted to encouraging new memberships in the library and the library support group Friends of the Library.
Computer Training Classes: Offered free to the public, these trainings are held weekly and we offer classes both in the morning and evening. Training will vary and change each month. Please ask the staff about current training be offered. These are hands-on classes and a limited number of computers are available.
Internet Access: All library computers can be used to access the Internet. There is no charge for Internet use.
Computers: The library makes computers available in the library for your use. The computers run the Microsoft Office Suite for word-processing, data base and spreadsheet applications. In addition the children’s computers contain interactive educational games.
Printing: Printers are available for the public. Patrons may not download or save any file to the hard drive of the computer. You may save or download to a 3 ½ “disk. The library provides disk for $1 each. Color printing is available for 25¢ per page. Large format color printing is available. Prices vary depending on size of pages.
Laminating: Laminating is available for sizes up to 8 ½ “X 11” for 50¢ per page.
Telephone Reference: The library is happy to answer quick questions over the phone, so please do not hesitate to call the library if you have a question.
Copying: The copy machine is available for public use. Prices vary depending on black & white, color and size of pages. Scanner: The library has a scanner available for the public. Scanned images may be printed or saved to disk. Use of the scanner is free to the public. The library now offers scanning with OCR capabilities. Now you can scan that resume and make changes as necessary. Ask the librarian for more details.
Fax Machine: A fax machine is available for the public. The price for a fax is free for a local or toll free call and $1.00 for the first 5 pages and $1.00 for each additional 5 pages.
Magazine Database and Index: Texas State Library and Archives provides an extensive collection of magazine and newspaper databases available on-line at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/index.html. Patrons may also access these databases from home. Staff will be glad to provide you with a password to access these databases.
Meeting Room Facility: The Library has a meeting room that is available for use by non-profit organizations.
