Special Response Team

Recognizing that in today's society, the presence of a highly trained, highly skilled police tactical unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers and suspects. The Objective of the Ingleside Police Department Special Response Team (referred to as S.R.T.) is to resolve extreme risk situations with a minimum of force, personal injury or property damage. The S.R.T. has been trained and equipped to handle unconventional and high risk law enforcement situations involving a higher than normal risk or one requiring special skills unique to a tactical unit or tactical situation.

The mission of the Ingleside Special Response Team is to support the Ingleside Police Department and any other requesting law enforcement agency with a tactical response to High Risk situations.

High Risk situations handled by the S.R.T. include:

  • Barricaded Person - A standoff created by an armed or potentially armed suspect in any location, whether fortified or not, who is refusing to comply with police demands for surrender


  • Sniping - The firing upon citizens and/or police by an armed suspect, whether stationary or mobile.


  • High Risk Raids - The service of search or arrest warrants where there is a likelihood of armed or potentially armed suspect(s) and there is a potential of armed resistance.


  • V.I.P. Protection - The security of special person(s), such as V.I.P.'s, witnesses or suspect's, based on threat or potential threat to the well being of those person(s).

  • Hostage Situations - The holding of any person(s) against their will by an armed or potentially armed suspect.


  • Special Event Coverage - Any assignment, approved by the Chief of Police, based upon the level of threat or the need for special expertise.


  • Civil Disorders - Mass violation's of state and local laws by multiple violators, which threaten the personal the personal safety and personal property of the community.


  • Civil Defense Emergencies - Natural and man-made disaster's, ie. Hurricanes, Train Wrecks ect.
